LKF, the Estonian Motor Insurance Bureau is an official supporter of the Charter of Road Traffic Victims' Rights

Charter reinforces principles of “fair, transparent and timely compensation” – LKF

Supporting the Charter of Road Traffic Victims’ Rights helps to reinforce the principles of offering victims “fair, transparent and timely compensation”. That’s according to Eesti Liikluskindlustuse Fond (LKF), also known as the Estonian Motor Insurance Bureau, who are the latest organisation to become official supporters of the Charter.

LKF ensures the functioning of the motor insurance system by fulfilling the tasks arising from the Motor Insurance Act, which is the administrative contract concluded with the Estonian Government. All insurers offering motor third party liability insurance in Estonia are members of the LKF. It also operates as the Green Card Bureau for Estonia and is a member of COB.

The Charter of Road Traffic Victims’ Rights was developed to protect the victims of road traffic accidents. It was created by COB, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the Institute for European Traffic Law (IETL) to serve as a code of conduct for all those involved in the compensation of road traffic victims.

After they decided to become official supporters of the Charter, Chair of the Management Board of LKF, Ms. Tuuli Pärenson said, “LKF is pleased to become an official supporter of the Charter of Road Traffic Victims’ Rights. We understand how important this Charter is and all that it represents both here in Estonia and beyond.

“The strength of the of the motor insurance system is measured by one thing: how it supports victims after an accident. The Charter reinforces the principles of fair, transparent and timely compensation – values we are committed to upholding. We believe outlining our support for the Charter illustrates this and that can only be good for LKF and the victims we assist every day,” Ms. Pärenson concluded.

LKF are the first organisation from Estonia to support the Charter. A wide range of other organisations based in a multitude of different countries and ranging from Green Card bureaux, compensation bodies, guarantee funds, insurance companies, claims handling offices and brokers have also become official supporters. As well as LKF more official supporters are also expected to be announced in the near future.
