Germany's DBGK and VOH have become official supporters of the Charter of Road Traffic Victims Rights

Germany’s DBGK & VOH sign up to support the Charter

Germany’s Deutsches Büro Grüne Karte e.V. (DBGK) and Verkehrsopferhilfe e.V. (VOH) have announced their support for the Charter of Road Traffic Victims’ Rights.

DBGK is the German Green Card Bureau and acts as the institution responsible for handling motor liability insurance claims in Germany, within the framework of the international Green Card system.

VOH is an organisation of German motor liability insurers and helps traffic victims by acting as a guarantee fund in the event of accidents in Germany caused by uninsured or unidentified motor vehicles.  VOH also helps traffic victims in accidents abroad in their role as a compensation body acting under the EU Motor Vehicle Directive.

Both DBGK and VOH are led by CEO Sandra Schwarz.

Speaking about both organisations’ support for the Charter, Sandra said, “Supporting the Charter seems like part of our corporate mission. The values behind the Charter match the same ideals we practice in DBGK and VOH on a daily basis. We already adhere to the principles of the Charter in how we engage with victims, so becoming official supporters feels like a natural next step.

“In the case of DGBK, we are committed to protecting road accident victims far beyond the borders of Europe. Supporting, implementing and complying with the UN Charter is therefore the logical consequence of our legal mandate.

“While for VOH, the protection of road accident victims is in our name and in the DNA of our organisation. That is why supporting, implementing and complying with the principles set out in the Charter is a matter of course for us.

“On a personal level, I also fully appreciate just what the Charter is trying to achieve. It is a document with truly positive objectives in mind, namely to help the victims. That is an aspiration everyone involved in the insurance sector should seek to support and one we are honoured to be associated with,” Ms. Schwarz concluded.

As well as leading DBGK and VOH, Sandra has also recently concluded her term as President of COB.

During her time as COB President, Sandra played a key role in helping to advance the development of the Charter and the finalisation of the text, working with COB colleagues Martin Metzler and Sorin Greceanu as well as counterparts from the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the Institute for European Traffic Law (IETL).
